- Grade D: Points 9–17
- FTE Salary: £28,155 – £32,046
- Actual Salary: £22,053 – £25,209 (Level 3)
- Grade B: Points 3–4
- FTE Salary: £25,878 – £26,017
- Actual Salary: £20,269 – £20,378 (Level 2)
Hours & Contract
- Hours: 32.5 hours per week (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
- Term time only: 39 weeks per year + 5 training days

About the Role
The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting children with additional needs, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and/or challenges with behaviour regulation. This role is perfect for a person with:
- A nurturing and resilient attitude, paired with strong organisational skills
- the ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team
- experience of pre-planned interventions and behaviour management aligned with educational policies
You’ll help create an engaging, stimulating environment, supporting pupils to achieve their full potential in and out of the classroom. The Learning Support Practitioner will also assist teachers with curricular delivery, track progress, and maintain accurate records.
Key responsibilities:
- Work in a small group setting supporting pupils identified as SEND/D
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENDCo to tailor learning and interventions
- Implement positive behaviour strategies to enhance emotional regulation and engagement in learning
- Develop pupils’ independence, confidence, and social skills
- Support across the broader curriculum, including phonics, maths, and literacy
- Contribute to assessment recording and liaise with parents/external professionals
- Plan and prepare SEND-appropriate resources alongside the wider teaching team
- Act as a dedicated point of support for early years/specialist groups, ensuring seamless transitions

Responsibilities
The postholder will primarily:
- Support pupils within mainstream classrooms with individualised programmes (e.g. SENDщений reactions, social skills interventions).
- Adhere to schoolBehaviour Policy to maintain a consistently supportive and structured environment.
- Assess pupils’ needs through observation and collaborate with teams to develop/review plans.
- Facilitate small group activities using ** structured, child-led or adult-led approaches**.
- Liaise with the Head of SEN department and pastoral support staff to coordinate across the setting .
- Ensure all practice adheres to safeguarding standards and inclusion policies.
- Complete accurate assessment documentation (e.g. ALNRA, SEN support plans).
- Promote positive habits in learning, hygiene, and interaction with peers.
- Work flexibly to suit pupils’ needs—including 1:1 support and group workshops.
Requirements
Preferred Skills & Knowledge:
- Qualifications:
- A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Practitioner qualification
- Experience Needed:
- Dedicated experience with SEND pupils (barred?** because covering Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016: Fluency in spoken/written English is a strict requirement).
- Key Strengths:
- Excellence in behaviour management (remaining calm under pressure)
- Deep knowledge of SEND economics (e.g. autism, communication disorders, social-emotional mental health challenges)
- Personal commitment to fostering inclusion and equality
- Experience of writing intervention plans and following statutory guidance
- Cultural Fit:
- Willingness to develop internally and contribute to continuous professional development (training is provided)
- A **friendly mood and humour ** that reassures anxious or unmotivated children
