Lecturer - Catering (0.5FTE)

Catering Lecturer – Part-Time Role

Are you a passionate hospitality professional ready to use your industry expertise to transform lives? We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Catering Lecturer to join our Professional & Creative team, where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning and shaping the future of our students.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced chef to bring real-world insight into the classroom, helping learners develop the skills, confidence, and ambition they need to succeed in the industry. Working within a collaborative and inclusive environment, you will contribute to the ongoing development of our curriculum, support student success, and help drive excellence across our catering provision.

**Part-time role working 17.5 hours per week


Responsibilities

  • Teach courses as specified by the Departmental Leadership Team
  • Actively participate in curriculum development, including cross-college marketing activities where appropriate
  • Engage in student enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling, and initial assessment
  • Devise individual learning plans and provide tailored support for learners in line with course requirements
  • Maintain responsibility for student discipline, counselling, and guidance for assigned classes (supervised by the Head of Department)
  • Supervise and manage students on placements and offsite visits/activities where relevant
  • Record and report formative and summative assessments, tracking student progress individually and in groups
  • Proactively contribute to the department’s success and align with its strategic vision
  • Undertake programme leadership duties as assigned by your line manager or Head of Department
  • Support course development and stay updated on industry or education reforms
  • Develop new programmes of study, demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery
  • Act as academic and pastoral tutor for assigned students
  • Implement and promote College regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in Course Committee activities, ensuring student voice informs curriculum design
  • Volunteer in recruitment and marketing activities as directed by your manager or Head of Department

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who are:

Requirements

Education & Training

  • Level 3 Qualification or relevant subject specialism in Catering
  • A relevant teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards obtaining one
  • GCSE Maths (4–9 or equivalent Level 2) – Ability to prove attainment in a test before interview, with a commitment to achieve within a set timescale
  • GCSE English (4–9 or equivalent Level 2) – Same terms as above

Experience

  • Academic, industrial, or commercial experience relevant to the programme
  • Strong teaching/training credentials, including formal or mentored practice
  • Experience in student pastoral care and familiarity with disciplinary procedures
  • Prior course leadership responsibilities
