Role: Lecturer – Early Years
Location: Tresham Campuses
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 35 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37hrs per week|52 Weeks
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer – Early Years to join our Health, Social Care & Childcare Department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer – Early Years, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching & Assessment - Deliver high-quality teaching across a range of programmes, prepare engaging learning materials, assess and verify student work, and ensure awarding body standards are met.
- Student Development & Support - Support, guide and motivate students to achieve their potential through effective progress monitoring, timely interventions, and a positive learning experience.
- Curriculum & Quality Improvement - Contribute to curriculum development, introduce innovative teaching practices, participate in quality assurance processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Industry Engagement & Programme Promotion - Maintain current industry knowledge through CPD, develop employer links and vocational opportunities, and support recruitment activities including open days, interviews, and promotional events.
- Compliance & Professional Responsibilities - Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, health and safety requirements, complete administrative duties accurately, and contribute effectively to team and college-wide objectives.
About You
- Qualifications & Academic Background - Relevant degree in Early Years, GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent), teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed or willingness to work towards), and assessor/verifier awards.
- Teaching & Industry Experience - Recent experience teaching Early Years programmes, vocational experience within Early Years settings, knowledge of current sector developments, and experience developing engaging multimedia learning resources.
- Student Support & Safeguarding - Strong understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, with the ability to create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Communication & Professional Skills - Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships, work collaboratively, meet deadlines, and uphold the College's values and reputation.
- Digital Capability & Professional Development - Confident use of Microsoft Office, Moodle and other IT systems, commitment to continuous professional development, flexibility to work across locations, and awareness of health and safety requirements.

About The Bedford College Group
The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
Today, the Group is made up of a family of colleges across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire: Bedford College, Central Bedfordshire College and Tresham College in the towns of Bedford, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough; Shuttleworth College, a specialist land-based college; The Bedford Sixth Form, (the only dedicated sixth form in Bedford); The Corby Sixth Form, (opened in September 2023); and the National College for Motorsport alongside Silverstone race circuit.
