Lecturer – Education Focused (Part-Time, Randwick Clinical Campus)

Location: Sydney, NSW | Job no: 540760 | Work type: Part-time (7 hours/week)

Employment Details:

  • Duration: 2-Year Fixed Term
  • Base Salary: $133,065 prorated (+17% superannuation + leave loading)
  • Location: Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick Clinical Campus
  • Work Rights: Visa sponsorship unavailable

About the Role

The Education-Focused Lecturer supports clinical teaching within UNSW’s Medicine Program, located at the Randwick Clinical Campus. This role aligns with UNSW’s vision to foster educational excellence by enabling academics to specialise in teaching, design, and innovation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with students, faculty, and clinical teams to enhance the undergraduate and postgraduate medical education experience.
  • Supporting curriculum development for the School of Clinical Medicine.
  • Contributing to the advancement of effective teaching strategies, pedagogy, and education technology.
  • Engaging in projects that promote student equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Academic Support

  • Deliver high-quality clinical teaching to UNSW Medicine students.
  • Design, develop, and facilitate educational content for undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Use educational technologies and online platforms effectively.
  • Supervise and mentor students within clinical learning environments.

Curriculum & Assessment Innovation

  • Review and refine discipline-specific curricula to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to develop work-integrated learning experiences (e.g., practical workshops and mentorship).

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Clinical Background: A higher degree (e.g., Master’s or PhD) in medicine, education, health sciences, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Teaching Experience: Demonstrated ability to design, deliver, and evaluate teaching (undergraduate or postgraduate) with a track record of excellence.
  • Pedagogy & Learning Technologies: Proficiency in educational technologies (e.g., LMS platforms, simulation tools) and their role in enhancing learning.
  • Curriculum Leadership: A portable portfolio of discipline-based curriculum development (e.g., module design, scenario-based teaching).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in work-integrated learning, industry engagement, or medical simulation.
  • Familiarity with assessment design (e.g., competency-based rubrics).
  • Published research on pedagogy or mutidisciplinary education methods.
