- Employment Type: Part-time (7 hours per week)
- Duration: 2-Year Fixed Term
- Base Salary: $133,065 (prorated, including +17% superannuation and leave loading)
- Work Rights: Visa sponsorship not available. Candidates must have full Australian work rights.
About the Role
This Education-Focused Lecturer role is designed to support clinical teaching for students in the UNSW Medicine Program at Prince of Wales Hospital, located within the Randwick Clinical Campus of the School of Clinical Medicine.
UNSW’s Education-Focussed (EF) specialism allows academics to focus entirely on delivering high-quality teaching, fostering educational innovation, and enhancing student experiences. The role demands strong educational vision, leadership in curriculum design, experience developing and facilitating learning, and a commitment to student diversity and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver and develop clinical education for undergraduate and postgraduate medicine students across various learning environments, including bedside teaching and hospital-based clinical settings.
- Implement innovative teaching methods while adhering to accreditation and curriculum requirements.
- Assess student performance in an equitable, constructive, and timely manner.
Education Leadership
- Collaborate with the education team to enhance teaching and learning excellence for medicine students.
- Develop, implement, **and evaluate **curriculum and student assessment frameworks.
Educational Practice and Innovation
- Environments, including the application of educational technologies and virtual learning platforms.
- Document and share evidence of teaching effectiveness and student feedback to promote a culture of inquiry-driven improvement.
Faculty Development and Partnerships
- Support and mentor colleagues within the School of Clinical Medicine in applying best-practice educational strategies.
- Advocate for work-integrated learning and opportunities that link academic study to real-world practice.

Key Skills and Experience Required
Academic Background
- A clinical or health discipline background complemented by:
- A postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in education or a cognate research field, OR
- Extensive professional teaching experience beyond a standard undergraduate qualification.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a background in clinical medicine, medical education, or related medical disciplines.
Teaching Experience
- Demonstrable experience in teaching and curriculum design at undergraduate/vetez (Higher Education) levels.
- Evidence of effective pedagogical approaches and measurable student outcomes (e.g., fieldwork reports, evaluative data).
- Proficiency in educational technologies and online platforms, or a clear ability to quickly integrate them into teaching practice.
Professional Commitment
- A strong commitment to student learning, every student’s diverse needs, and inform pedagogical practice with evidence.
- Alignment with UNSW’s vision of Educational Excellence, ensuring all teaching aligns with its charter.
Competencies
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, required to engage respectfully with diverse clinical, academic, and student communities.
- Ability to engage in collaborative teams, contribute actively to instructional leadership groups, and respond dynamically to the evolving needs of the School’s clinical teaching environment.
Preferred Experience
- Evidence of professional expertise or oversight in work-integrated learning initiatives.
- Experience with curriculum renewal projects, faculty capacity-building programs, or mentoring new teaching faculty.
