Location: Sydney, NSW | Work Type: Part-Time Job No: 540760 Employment Type: Part-time (7 hours per week) Duration: 2-Year Fixed Term Remuneration: $133,065 (base prorated) +17% superannuation, leave loading Work Rights: Visa sponsorship not available – candidates must hold full work rights in Australia
About the Role
This Education Focused role supports clinical teaching for students in the UNSW Medicine Program at Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick Clinical Campus (School of Clinical Medicine).
UNSW’s Education Focussed (EF) academic roles allow specialists to enhance education quality, fostering excellence in teaching, learning, and student engagement. Appointees are expected to drive innovation and equity in education.
Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Deliver high-quality clinical teaching for undergraduate and/or postgraduate students within the medicine program.
- Design and implement innovative clinical teaching content, workshops, and simulation-based learning.
- Engage with educational technology (e.g., online learning platforms, interactive tools, distance education).
- Develop work-integrated learning (WiL) programs to bridge academic theory and real-world practice.
- Contribute to curriculum design, ensuring alignment with national and international standards.
- Support diverse student cohorts, including those from underrepresented backgrounds.
- Maintain current clinical knowledge and actively pursue professional development.

Requirements
Key Skills and Experience:
- A suitable clinical background with either:
- A postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, or
- Direct/focused experience in higher education.
- Demonstrable experience in designing, developing, and delivering teaching strategies.
- Proficiency in leveraging educational technologies for asynchronous/online delivery.
- A track record of extending teaching horizons, whether through structuring programs or enhancing platforms.
- Evidence of educational impact (e.g., student outcomes, peer-reviewed curriculum designs).
- Strong inter-personal and organisational skills with a student-focused approach.
- Contributed to initiatives that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
- Completion of pre-employment checks (details provided in the full position description).
Preferred:
- Demonstrable understanding of clinical education challenges in your field.
- Experience in work-integrated learning (WiL) partnerships with healthcare providers.
