Lecturer (Education Focused) – School of Population Health
Position Title: Lecturer (Education Focused) – EF Substitute Title: Lecturer EF Employment Type: Part-time (21 hours/week) Duration: 3-Year Fixed Term Remuneration: $133,065 base (pro rata), plus 17% superannuation and leave loading Location: Hybrid, Kensington & Sydney, NSW Work Rights Required: Must hold full work rights in Australia (no visa sponsorship available) Job No: 540998
About the Role
The School of Population Health (SPH), a globally recognised leader in public health, focuses on research and innovation across health disciplines—including infectious diseases, immunisation, and health governance. UNSW’s Education Focussed (EF) roles empower academics to specialise in teaching, enhancing student learning experiences through cutting-edge pedagogy and curriculum development.
This part-time Lecturer (EF) role provides an extraordinary opportunity to:
- Shape postgraduate education with creative teaching and curriculum design.
- Develop engaging learning resources and support diverse student cohorts.
- Collaborate with UNSW’s dynamic academic community to advance teaching excellence.
- Foster an inclusive and student-centred learning environment.
The position reports to Associate Professor and has no direct managerial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Course Development: Design and deliver innovative ** undergraduate and postgraduate** teaching, with an emphasis on first Nations culturally capable approaches.
- Curriculum Design: Contribute to contemporary curriculums, integrating emerging educational technologies and digital learning methods.
- Student Support: Enrich student learning, equity, diversity, and inclusion (ED&I) initiatives.
- Academic Leadership: Collaborate with peers to strengthen teaching practices and adopt evidence-based pedagogies.
- Research & Scholarship: Engage in teaching-focused research to enhance academic practices.

Essential Requirements
- Qualifications:
- PhD in Biostatistics, Health Sciences, or related field.
- Alternatively, strong evidence of distinguished teaching practice and relevant professional equivalency.
- Professional Experience:
- Proven expertise in teaching design, delivery, and evaluation at university levels.
- Experience with digital learning platforms (e.g., LMS tools, multimedia resources).
- Commitment to decolonising education or willingness to upskill in Indigenous knowledge and cultural safety.
- Attributes:
- Student-focused mindset and a demonstrated teaching philosophy supporting equity and inclusion.
- Skilled in creating assessment and feedback strategies aligned with curriculum goals.
- Exceptional organisation, communication, and collaboration skills.
Desirable Attributes
- Demonstrated student engagement metrics or accolades in teaching innovation.
- Experience contributing to cross-disciplinary research alignment with public health.
- Knowledge of educational technologies for enhanced learning outcomes.
