UNSW Education Focused (EF) Lecturers
This role is part of UNSW’s Education Focused (EF) program, enabling academics to specialise in delivering exceptional teaching and enhancing student experiences through:

Educational technology and interdisciplinary collaboration are core to this role.
Education Focused Role Responsibilities
The Lecturer reports to an Associate Professor and has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Core Tasks:
- Design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality postgraduate/undergraduate curriculum adhering to academic standards
- Implement and refine teaching practices, ensuring alignment with SPH’s strategic direction
- Develop, assess, and refine engaging learning materials leveraging diverse pedagogies
- Advance student success by delivering feedback and employing equity- affirming practices
- Collaborate with academic teams to develop undergraduate/graduate-level content
- Demonstrate disciplinary expertise while specialising in educational approaches
- Engage in evidence-based teaching reviews, using ARC guidelines and quality assurance frameworks
- Reflect and practice continuous curriculum innovation

Required Skills & Experience
Academic Background:
- PhD in Biostatistics, or closely related discipline OR
- Demonstrated proven experience equivalent to PhD level
Teaching Experience & Expertise:
- Dominated expertise in designing and delivering college/life systems in course development
- tailored to technical/cultural contexts
- Evidence of strong teaching practices in aligning to broader organisational goals or pedagogical frameworks
- Successful publishing of curriculum-related work in academic settings
- Demonstrable record of improving student participation, comprehension, or course design
Cultural Competency & Leadership: • Capacity to teach using First Nations culturally capable approaches OR willingness to develop expert knowledge • Experience with technology-enhanced teaching (e.g., virtual classrooms, design tools, blended learning platforms) • Adherence to consistent, high-level teaching philosophy aligned with UNSW’s expectations • Equity, diversity, and inclusion in educational design and practice • Track record in mentoring diverse student groups, especially underrepresented communities
Attributes of Successful Candidates
- Analytical expertise to support student academic development
- Initiative and policy planning skills in curriculum transformation
- Experience in designing and implementing innovative assessment practices
- Favourable track record in team research (preferably across disciplinary projects)
- Committed to culturally safe, evidence-based teaching(e.g. equity-informed flexible deadlines; anti-dicscrminatory feedback mechanisms)
- Willingness to work in a mentorship capacity for more junior academics
