Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.
Hours/Weeks: 29.6 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in GCSE English and Functional Skills to join our Adult & Community Learning & ESOL department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
Teaching & Delivery of Adult English - Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English provision for adult learners across multiple campuses, using engaging and inclusive teaching methods. Assessment & Learner Progress - Conduct initial assessments, monitor and report on student progress, complete marking and moderation, and ensure learners are placed on appropriate courses. Learner Support & Engagement - Provide tailored support to meet diverse learning needs, promote a positive learning environment, and work with support staff to enhance student success. Administration & Quality Assurance - Maintain accurate records, complete required documentation, and evaluate teaching effectiveness against quality standards and performance indicators. Professional Practice & Development - Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge, apply best teaching practices, support attendance and achievement, and contribute to wider college responsibilities and compliance requirements.
About You
Qualifications & Teaching Expertise - Degree in English (or related subject) with a teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve), and a strong track record of delivering English across multiple levels. Flexible Teaching Capability - Ability to teach a diverse range of learners, including adults, 16–18 students, and both day and evening classes across multiple sites. Communication & Engagement Skills - Strong communication skills with an enthusiastic, self-motivated approach to engaging learners and supporting their development. Performance & OutcomesFocus - Committed to achieving high retention and success rates, with experience demonstrating positive teaching outcomes. Professional & Personal Requirements - Good standard of education (including GCSE Maths and English), commitment to equality and diversity, and flexibility to travel between campuses with own transport.
