Salary
£31,000 - £48,000 (Qualified) | £26,000 - £29,000 (Unqualified)
Contract Type
Permanent, Full-time
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Criminology Lecturer to join our established Sixth Form team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire and support the next generation of Criminology students within a dynamic and forward-thinking educational environment. Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Tutoring: Deliver specific programmes, take on course/personal tutorship, and provide a high-quality learning experience for all students.
- Curriculum Development: Participate jointly in curriculum development, lesson planning, and continuously improving teaching standards alongside colleagues and external partners.
- Digital Innovation: Embrace Information Learning Technology (ILT) and multimedia resources to develop and deliver dynamic learning materials.
- College Events: Assist with student recruitment, induction, open events, parents' evenings, and interviews to support learners' ongoing success and wellbeing.
- Administration: Maintain accurate academic and administrative records in accordance with college policy.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A degree or appropriate professional qualification relevant to Criminology, alongside a Certificate in Education or Level 5 teaching qualification.
- A proven track record of delivering Level 3 courses (ideally WJEC/BTEC), preparing/evaluating learning materials, and executing excellent teaching practices.
- Willingness to work flexibly, attend evening duties (such as open events and enrolment), and travel between local sites at short notice.
- Experience in internal verification or moderation is highly desirable.
- Prior experience acting as a personal tutor is desirable.
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for the Qualified Lecturer salary banding, you must hold one of the following recognised teaching qualifications:
Accepted Qualifications
- Certificate in Education / PGCE / ProfGCE
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training) / DiT (Diploma in Teaching - if for a vocational subject)
- DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)

- SFHEA (Senior Fellowship) or a Master's in Education
