Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Criminology Lecturer to join our Sixth Form team at Central St Michaels Campus. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and mentor the next generation of criminology students while contributing to a progressive and collaborative learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching for Criminology A Level programmes, including tutorship and personal mentoring.
- Collaborate in curriculum development, planning, and continuous improvement of teaching standards.
- Integrate Information Learning Technology (ILT) and multimedia resources to enhance dynamic and engaging lesson delivery.
- Support recruitment, induction, open events, parents’ evenings, and interviews to foster learner success and wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate academic and administrative records in alignment with college policies.
- Partner with colleagues and external stakeholders to drive improvements in teaching excellence.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Educational Background
- A degree or professional qualification in Criminology (or related field).
- Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification for eligibility in the upper salary band.

Teaching and Qualifications
A proven ability to:
- Deliver and assess Level 3 courses (ideally WJEC/BTEC Criminology).
- Design, evaluate, and execute high-quality teaching materials.
- Work flexibly to include evening duties (open events, enrolments) and travel between multiple sites.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in internal verification/moderation.
- Prior roles as a personal tutor.
Salary Banding
Qualified Lecturer (£31,837–£48,160)
Requires one of the following qualified teaching standards:
- DTTLS
- Certificate in Education
- PGCE
- ProfGCE
- DET or DT (vocational subjects only)
Unqualified Lecturer (£26,661–£29,998)
