Compensation: £26,661 - £48,160 / year

Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Criminology Lecturer to join our Sixth Form team at Central St Michaels Campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specific programmes, take on course tutorship/personal tutoring, and provide a high-quality learning experience
  • Participate jointly in curriculum development, planning, and continuously improving teaching standards
  • Embrace Information Learning Technology (ILT) and multimedia resources to develop and deliver dynamic learning materials
  • Assist with recruitment, induction, open events, parents' evenings, and interviews to support learners' ongoing success and wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate academic and administrative records in accordance with college policy
  • Collaborating with colleagues and external partners, you will contribute to curriculum development and continuously work to improve teaching standards.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A degree or appropriate professional qualification relevant to Criminology, alongside a Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification
  • Proven track record of delivering Level 3 courses (ideally WJEC/BTEC), preparing/evaluating learning materials, and executing excellent teaching practices.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, attend evening duties (open events, enrolment), and travel between multiple sites at short notice
  • Experience in internal verification/moderation (desirable)
  • Prior experience acting as a personal tutor (desirable)

Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

✅ Accepted Qualifications:

  • DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • Certificate in Education
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
  • DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
  • DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject

❌ Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:

  • PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
  • SFHEA (Senior Fellowship)
  • Masters in Education
  • TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)

If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).
