Lecturer in Automotive – Hull

Salary & Contract
- £26,772 – £40,052 FTE per annum
- 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Annual Leave
- 42 days per annum (excluding bank holidays, plus up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period)
About the Role
As our Lecturer in Automotive, you will:
- Primarily work with students studying a range of vocational courses in the automotive sector.
- Provide support needed to help them achieve their programme of study.
- Ensure teaching methods are innovative and fulfil aspects of curriculum leadership.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver teaching and learning to engage and challenge students of all ages and abilities.
- Collation and submission of financial claims to funding bodies as required.
- Plan, prepare, and update teaching documentation:
- Schemes of work
- Lesson plans
- Online learning materials using Canvas
- Lead, coordinate, and support course activities to meet curriculum targets.
- Accurately complete qualification processes within departmental systems on time.
- Take responsibility for and facilitate academic tutorials for students.
- Assist with marketing, recruitment, and interview activities, including:
- Open events
- School tasters
- Enrolment events
- Assess, monitor, and record student achievement using the College’s data systems and processes in line with exam board guidelines and quality systems.
- Lead, coordinate, and support Internal Verification/Internal Quality Assurance (IV/IQA) processes.
- Contribute to curriculum quality assurance and design.
- Attend meetings and collaborate with colleagues as required.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of subject specialism through professional/vocational training.

Requirements & Skills
Essential
- Minimum Level 3/4 qualification in automotive specialism.
- TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification (Cert. Ed/PGCE) or willingness to work towards.
- GCSEs (or equivalents) in Maths and English.
- Experience of working in an academic setting with learners.
- Strong understanding of the specialist automotive sector.
- Organisational, administrative, and time management skills.
- Ability to initiate improvements within the College’s policy and procedures.
Additional
- Digital proficiency, with willingness to learn or adapt.
