- An established or promising research profile and teaching experience (preferably in Health or related research methods disciplines).
- Expertise and subject knowledge that enriches our students’ experience at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences is seeking qualified candidates to contribute to our Welsh and English-language research methods portfolio across undergraduate programmes. Your role would include:
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver and develop research methods modules in both English and Welsh for students across disciplines (e.g., Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Allied Health Professions).
- Adopt student-centred pedagogical approaches, applying different paradigms, methodologies, and research designs.
- Utilise blended learning strategies to enhance students’ understanding and digital literacy.
- Work closely with academic teams (Applied Psychology/Speech and Language Therapy) to support module leadership.
- Teach across all levels—emphasis on Welsh-medium delivery.

Scholarship and Research
- Bring expertise to critical research applications and support innovative teaching.
- Contribute to your own specialist field (within Health or broader research methods).
- Support broader university goals in scholarship and research output.
The role may also accommodate a fractional appointment (e.g., 0.5 FTE) where suitable.
Requirements and Expectations
Knowledge and Competencies
- Ability to develop teaching/research programmes and learning support in both Welsh and English mediums.
- Strong background in research methods, with knowledge of key theories, techniques, and applications.
- Proven understanding of student-centred learning for undergraduates, especially blended approaches.
- Proficiency in curriculum design, assessment methods, and improving teaching effectiveness.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills
- Capable of explaining complex ideas through teaching, presentations, publications, or feedback.
- Demonstrated expertise in research dissemination and engagement.
Experience
- Proven experience in higher education teaching or equivalent.
- Experience mentoring colleagues or providing academic leadership.
Qualifications
- Must hold a good honours degree in a relevant field.
- Doctoral qualification or close to completing one. Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) is expected within 3 years of appointment.
