Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Lecturer in Cyber Security role based in Sheffield. The Lecturer will design, deliver, and evaluate teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate cyber security modules, including lectures, seminars, lab sessions, and project supervision. The role also involves:
- Contributing to curriculum development
- Engaging in research or scholarly activity in cyber security
- Collaborating with colleagues and external partners to enhance teaching quality and industry relevance
- Participating in assessment processes, quality assurance, and wider departmental and university activities that support student success and inclusive practice
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in cyber security concepts and practices, such as network security, secure software development, risk management, and cyber threat analysis.
- Experience with relevant technologies and tools, for example operating systems, programming or scripting languages, security frameworks, and incident response methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective teaching, including lecture planning, practical lab development, assessment design, and constructive feedback.
- Academic or professional experience in research, innovation, or applied projects in cyber security, with the ability to integrate current industry and research insights into teaching.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to inclusive, student-centered education and support for diverse learners.
- Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, build external relationships with industry and professional bodies, and contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
- A relevant degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline; a postgraduate qualification or doctoral study in a related area is highly desirable.
- Professional certifications (such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent) and membership in relevant professional bodies are advantageous.
