The appointed person will teach a variety of current modules, both Welsh and English medium, to all year groups across all schemes over the period of two years.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

There is an expectation for the successful candidate to:

  • Contribute to the teaching provision on existing Welsh and English medium modules as a member of the departmental team.
  • Where suitable, lead on the development of some new modules.
  • Develop teaching resources.
  • Support the School’s activities, including Visiting Days and Open Days, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to general activities within the School, such as the marking and moderation of assessments of other modules, and act as a personal tutor to students.
  • Contribute to a proactive strategy and efforts of the School to promote student recruitment.
  • Support collaboration and alignment with external organisations and accrediting bodies to ensure the currency and applicability of the degree schemes.

Development and Leadership

In collaboration with other departmental colleagues and in consultation with external professional bodies where appropriate:

  • Contribute to curriculum design and delivery within the context of school’s provision by means of engagement with key departmental committees and structures and with key stakeholders.
  • Engage with Aberystwyth University’s formal structures for curriculum development in the planning and preparation of new modules and in the delivery of excellent teaching and learning.
  • Support the design, planning and validation of new provision in collaboration with colleagues and to engage with others in AU to achieve the aims of the AU’s Teaching and Learning Strategy.
  • Contribute to other provision (possibly scheduled outside term time) either for a commercial market or as a recruitment event, e.g. summer schools.
  • Engage with departmental marketing and recruitment.
  • Contribute to open and visiting days and/or student application and recruitment procedures and to participate in school visits and other recruitment and outreach events.
  • Work with central services departments and other professional contributors to meet the imperatives of the student satisfaction, student representation and student progress and retention agendas.
  • Engage as a Personal Tutor to ensure on-going learner development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
