Shape the Future of the Electrical Trade at Hugh Baird College. We are seeking two committed Electrical Installation Lecturers to join our Building Services team and support our learners for the new academic year.
Key Responsibilities
As a Lecturer in Electrical Installation, your role will include:
- Delivering high-quality teaching and assessment across:
- Levels 1–3
- 16–18 learners
- Adult students
- Apprentices
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons
- Assessing and supporting learners to achieve their goals
- Providing constructive feedback
- Maintaining accurate course records
- Contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement
You’ll join a supportive, experienced team committed to developing the next generation of electricians.

Who We’re Looking For
We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, including:
- Experienced Further Education (FE) lecturers
- Electrical trainers/assessors
- Industry professionals with experience in:
- Delivering training
- Mentoring apprentices
- Supervising learners
- Off-the-tools students (Prone to quarrels) with some teaching experience or a willingness to transition into a structured teaching role
📋 Experience & Qualifications
Essential Requirements
To be considered, you must have: ✔ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in Electrical Installation ✔ Recent and relevant industry experience ✔ Teaching qualification or willingness to pursue one ✔ Strong ability to motivate, support, and challenge learners ✔ Excellent communication and organisational skills
Note: At least one appointment must hold prior teaching or training experience to meet curriculum requirements.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience teaching in FE or private training environments
- Assessor/IQA qualifications
- Knowledge of awarding body requirements
- Experience delivering apprenticeships or workplace training
