Location: Brighton - Moulsecoomb
Salary: £41,064 to £48,822 per annum

Are you passionate about shaping the future of the Engineering Discipline? We’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Lecturer in Engineering with particular focus on Electronic and Communication Engineering to inspire the next generation of engineers at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Based within our vibrant Engineering subject area, you’ll play a key role in teaching, curriculum development, research and scholarship shaping the future of Engineering education. You’ll teach and mentor students in Engineering, delivering hands-on learning in areas such as: Electronics and Communication Engineering, Embedded systems including microcontroller-based systems, embedded programming and hardware-software interfacing, and cyber security.

  • Working collaboratively with the Course Team, you will help to develop a strong culture of practice-based delivery supported by our state of the art laboratories, and research informed teaching within the Engineering subject area.
  • You will contribute to, and lead, research and knowledge exchange activities across disciplines within and beyond the school and university.
  • You will become a member of the Advanced Engineering Centre with access to world class laboratories and field equipment within the School.

To Be Successful In This Post, You Should Have

  • Up-to-date, sound knowledge of the subject including Electronic and Communication Engineering, and the range of required generic skills.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in embedded systems, including microcontroller-based systems, embedded programming and hardware–software interfacing, and Cyber Security is desirable.
  • A relevant degree in Electronic and Communication Engineering or a closely related subject and a postgraduate qualification in the relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience of, or potential to develop, quality research, consultancy or knowledge exchange activity relevant to the needs of the School.

Our Lecturers also serve as personal tutors, offering pastoral support and guidance. This includes listening with empathy, understanding individual student needs, and referring them to specialist services when appropriate.

This post is offered on a 1.0 full-time equivalent basis, fixed term for 1 year, but we welcome job share applications. We have a wide range of benefits including: opportunities for some remote working, generous pension scheme, and additional time off during the festive period.
