Compensation: £26,661 - £48,160 / year

Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Lecturer in Foundation Learning to join the Foundation Learning department at Sandwell College or Cradley Heath Campus on a full-time, fixed term basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator or SEND specialist who is passionate about supporting learners with additional needs to achieve their full potential within the further education sector. You will play a key role in delivering engaging and inclusive teaching across Foundation Learning programmes, supporting learners to develop independence, employability skills and confidence for adulthood and future progression.

Working closely with the Head of Foundation Learning and wider curriculum team, you will contribute to delivering an outstanding learning experience for students with SEND, ensuring teaching and support strategies are tailored to meet individual learner needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Foundation Learning programmes
  • Support learners with SEND, including those with EHCPs, social, emotional and mental health needs, and complex learning difficulties
  • Deliver a range of programmes including functional skills, employability, independence and vocational learning
  • Support learners in building portfolios of evidence and achieving learning outcomes in line with awarding body and RARPA requirements
  • Develop inclusive teaching strategies and support systems to meet diverse learner needs
  • Maintain accurate learner records and administrative documentation using College systems, including ProMonitor
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies, employers and partner organisations to support learner progression and preparation for adulthood

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • English and Maths GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Experience working with learners with SEND within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of RARPA, entry level and Level 1 qualifications.
  • Experience supporting learners with EHCPs and additional learning needs.
  • Knowledge of preparation for adulthood and employability within a SEND curriculum.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

✅ Accepted Qualifications:

  • DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • Certificate in Education
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
  • DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
  • DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject

❌ Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:

  • PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
  • SFHEA (Senior Fellowship)
  • Masters in Education
  • TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)
