Lecturer in Hair and Media Makeup

Compensation: £30,348 - £40,015 / year


Description

Permanent contract, 11 hours per week (Tuesday half day and Thursday 8:30 am - 5 pm), 52 weeks per year.

Salary is full time equivalent.

  • Unqualified Lecturer Salary (P25-P27 £30,348.15 - £32,186.70)
  • Qualified Lecturer Salary L5 and above (P27-P35 £32,186.70 - £40,015.50)

Interview date: 19th August


Key Purpose

  • To plan, deliver and evaluate creative and innovative teaching and learning to learners from levels 1-3.
  • To act as course/subject leader as deemed necessary.
  • To adhere to and administrate Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • To assist in the coordination of recruitment, enrolment and induction of students.
  • To contribute towards the planning and effective running of the curriculum and department.

Additional skills set that would be beneficial to include:

  • Wig knotting and weft weaving
  • Dressing and maintaining a range of hair pieces structures
  • Prosthetic design, creating and casting for small and large pieces
  • Bald cap preparation and application skills

Key Responsibilities

  • To deliver high standards of teaching and learning and to monitor assessment processes in accordance with examination requirements.
  • To deliver, assess and internally verify on a broad range of Hair and Make Up programmes to a wide range of learners using appropriate teaching methods including online delivery.
  • To deliver departmental requirements of core and additional programmes.
  • Producing schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment plans, learning materials and any other related activities that impact on the effectiveness of learning.
  • To co-ordinate and maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning carried out by the course team.
  • To communicate external examination entry and timetable arrangements to the course team and students.

  • 5 years’ industry salon experience
  • A teaching qualification - or willing to work towards
  • TAQA /A1 / Assessors Award
