Sandwell College: Lecturer in Hair & Beauty
Sandwell College is seeking a passionate and industry-experienced Lecturer in Hair & Beauty to join our dynamic Hair and Beauty department. This is a vibrant opportunity for an enthusiastic educator or industry professional dedicated to delivering high-quality teaching and inspiring students to realise their full potential.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Section, this role involves:
- Delivering and developing beauty courses
- Providing inspiring teaching, learning, and assessment aligned with awarding body standards
- Supporting students throughout their educational journey
Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment across Hair & Beauty programmes
- Develop and plan engaging curriculum content and learning materials
- Provide personalised tutorial support, setting targets and reviewing progress
- Maintain accurate academic and administrative records
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous quality improvement
- Promote positive learner outcomes, including attendance, retention and achievement
- Utilise interactive learning tools (ILT) and multimedia resources effectively
- Engage in industry Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and staff development
- Support enrichment activities, open evenings, interviews, and enrolment events

Requirements
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Degree or relevant professional qualification in Hair & Beauty or a related subject
- Level 3 Hairdressing qualification
- Teaching qualification (e.g., Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification) or a commitment to pursuing one
- Proved experience in delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment in the beauty sector
- Expertise in creating engaging learning materials and using ILT
Teaching Qualifications & Salary
To qualify for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£ 31,837 – £48,160)***, you must hold one of the following:
✅ Accepted Qualifications
- DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- Certificate in Education
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
- DiT (Diploma in Teaching) — for vocational subjects
If unqualified, the salary range falls between £26,661 – £29,998.
