Lecturer in History

Salary: £39,162 - £42,773 per annum (pro rata)

Part time: 33.3 hours per week/ Fixed term contract from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2029

About The Role

We are looking for an innovative and adaptable student-centred lecturer in British history with an emerging research profile. This role is primarily focused on teaching undergraduate modules both as a module leader of specialist modules and as a member of a module team on survey modules. The postholder will also supervise research projects and act as a personal tutor for a period of three years. The teaching commitment will evolve during the three-year funding period. In the first year the modules will include contributions to:

  • Europe since 1789
  • History Matters
  • Money matters

You will also be required to contribute to modules focused on developing the employability skills of humanities students.

In future years the successful applicant will be given the opportunity to develop teaching that more closely aligns with research expertise and teaching interests, working in collaboration with the course leader.
