Lecturer in Hospitality and Tourism Management (Remote) – Arden University

Salary: £42,663 – £49,399 per annum

Hours: 37 per week (some evenings required, with potential for occasional campus visits)

Reporting to: Senior Lecturer in Hospitality and Tourism Management Department: School of Leadership & Service Industry

About the Department – School of Hospitality and Tourism

Our BSc (Hons) programmes—developed in collaboration with global accreditation bodies, industry professionals, and alumni—focus on experiential learning to prepare students for successful hospitality and tourism careers. Key features include:

  • Industry-aligned curricula accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), The Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT), and Tourism Management Institute (TMI)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging online lectures for our distance-learning students
  • Lead modules—designing high-quality learning materials and schemes of work to ensure pedagogical excellence
  • Oversee assessment marking, create authentic assessments, and provide cost-effective, consistent feedback
  • Collaborate on programme development—refreshing existing modules and designing new ones to reflect industry trends and employer needs
  • Drive innovation in teaching methods, student support strategies, and assessment practices

Additional TNE (Transnational Education) Role

Support our Department Link Coordinator with:

  • Maintaining strong cross-border relationships between Arden and partner institutions
  • Collaborating on programme delivery, academic standards, and quality assurance (e.g., assessment processes and marking consistency)
  • Ensuring alignment with Arden’s global standards and curriculum enhancement strategies

Requirements

Essential

  • MSc or equivalent in Hospitality/Tourism or a related business field or substantial industry experience
  • AdvanceHE Recognition (FHEA) or willingness to obtain it within 12–18 months
  • Higher education experience in effective teaching, learning, and assessment, with proven ability to develop programmes and deliver outstanding outcomes
  • Experience leading modules or projects in teaching, learning, and academic support
  • Track record of collaborating in programme teams and inspiring colleagues and students

Desirable

  • Prior experience managing Hospitality/Tourism modules
  • Knowledge of academic standards, regulation compliance, and professional accreditation
  • Ability to align modules with employer expectations and sector trends
  • Experience developing new programmes/marketing materials with a focus on student experience
  • Background in TNE or international higher education partnerships
