Our Research and Journalism Department

The Journalism Department at City has been a leader in its field since 1976, with an unrivalled record of getting graduates into the best jobs in journalism. The Department is ranked number one in London for Journalism (NSS, 2024) and number one in the UK for graduate outcomes in Communication and Media (Complete University Guide 2024). Based in the centre of London, the Department has strong industry links, regular high-profile events, and a professional-grade studio and journalism facilities. More than 300 postgraduate students study each year on the Department’s professionally focused, MA Journalism degrees, including the MA Broadcast Journalism.

Lecturer in Investigative Journalism

We are seeking a Lecturer in Investigative Journalism to join our teaching team and help educate the next generation of journalists at both postgraduate and undergraduate level. We are looking for candidates with significant experience as journalists, and a proven track-record – or demonstrated potential – to provide exceptional teaching and support to students. The successful candidate will have significant industry experience in investigative journalism and a proven track record of producing successful investigations and high-profile investigations, across a variety of formats. They will also have a genuine commitment to teaching excellence – providing creative, engaging lessons for students and they will be a team player.

This is a part-time role, for a fixed term of 9 months from appointment.

The successful candidate will be appointed with an “Education” role profile which means they will focus on education and leadership/administration.
