Candidates should demonstrate:
- An emerging national/international research profile
- A focus on socially relevant research addressing contemporary challenges
- Potential to secure external funding or external partnerships for real-world impact
Teaching focuses may include specific areas, such as:
- Foundational legal subjects: Contract Law, Land Law, Equity, Tort Law, UK & EU Law
- Cross-disciplinary contributions: Family Law, Law of Evidence – particularly for the new LLB (Law with Criminology) programme
Preferential consideration will be given to applicants whose research interests align with their teaching expertise.

Key Accountabilities
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver high-quality research-led undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
- Supervise dissertations (at both levels) and provide academic guidance
- Set and assess modules, maintaining academic standards via digital tools and frameworks
- Contribute to curriculum/programme development as needed
Research
- Conduct research of international excellence (REF 3 & 4)**, demonstrating originality and impact
- Engage with the Law School’s research groups and NUCoRE centres
- Secure external funding and foster partnerships for real-world applications
- Supervise Postgraduate Research students (as commensurate with experience)
Additional Responsibilities
- Act as an active member of the Law School’s academic community
- Commit to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
- Support operational tasks related to teaching, research, and student experiences
- Hold a defined academic citizenship role

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Emerging research profile with potential to secure funding and build external collaborations
- Ability to teach one or more foundational core subjects (or Family Law, Evidence, Criminology)
- Demonstration of exceptional pedagogical ability with effective use of educational technology
- Experience supervising UG and PG curriculum-based research
- Proven capacity for collaborative teamwork
- Excellent written/oral communication, organisation and presentation skills
Qualifications
- Valid law degree with upper-second-class or equivalent honours
- PhD completed or nearing completion within three months at application
- Professional qualification (if subject-specific; desirable)
- HE teaching qualification (desirable)
