Lecturer in Motion Graphics (and Contextual Studies)
Hours: Fixed term contract until July 2028, part time, 14.8 hours per week (0.4 FTE)
Salary: Band 6 – £43,482 to £48,823 per annum, pro rata
About The Post
The BA (Hons) Graphic Design and BA (Hons) Graphic Illustration pathway at the University of Suffolk is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking 0.4 FTE Lecturer to join the course team. The role focuses on integrating motion design teaching, delivering core Adobe Creative Cloud skills, and supporting visual communication across the programme.
The ideal candidate will:
- Introduce Level 4 students to foundational software literacy and creative problem-solving.
- Advance motion design practices across all year levels in the degree.
- Deliver workshops on motion-based software, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Support students in developing digital workflows, developing portfolios, and fostering employability skills.
Applicants with expertise in motion design, Adobe Creative Cloud, and a strong understanding of contemporary graphic design and illustration practice are encouraged to apply. The role aligns with the course’s emphasis on professional practice and transferable skills.
The Graphic Design programme offers scholarship, pastoral support, and an inclusive, industry-focused environment. The candidate will contribute to:

About The Team
The School of Business, Arts, Social Sciences and Technology provides a diverse portfolio of programmes across technology, business, arts, law, and creative industries, fostering collaboration, innovation, and student-centred learning.
The Creative Industries and Humanities team operates within this favourable environment, emphasising high-quality teaching and supportive student mentoring.
About You
We seek candidates with a blend of expertise, creativity, and dedication to student experience.
Required qualifications/experience:
- A degree in graphic design, illustration, or a related discipline.
- Either a HE teaching qualification (e.g., Fellowship of Advance HE) or a commitment to pursuing it.
- Contemporary experience in graphic design and illustration with insights into industry trends and debates.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.
- Strong communication skills to engage a diverse student cohort effectively.
- A capacity to contribute scholarly work, research, or professional practice.
- Evidence of organisational skills, sound judgement, and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
