About the Role

Based in the School of Pharmacy, this role involves proactive participation in a range of teaching and research activities specifically related to the MPharm programme.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll need to:

  • Provide specialist expertise in pharmaceutics/drug delivery, contributing to an accredited MPharm curriculum aligned with the School’s growing research and teaching interests
  • Lead teaching in relevant pharmacy modules, with a focus on pharmaceutics components of the MPharm programme
  • Offer supervisory experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Engage in external activities (e.g., pharmacy promotion, research collaboration) while maintaining involvement in School committees and activities
  • Participate in personal tutoring, combining academic achievement tracking with pastoral care

The School of Pharmacy enjoys interdisciplinary collaborations with the Faculty of Medical Sciences and its partner institutes: the NUBI, PHSI, and TCRI. Cooperation with teams in medicine, biomedical sciences, dentistry, psychology, and chemistry further enriches the research and teaching experience.


Key Duties

Teaching & Leadership

  • Deliver specialist knowledge in pharmaceutics/drug delivery as part of the MPharm programme
  • Lead at Komensky Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 4AX
  • Teach across a range of pharmacy programmes, with a focus on pharmaceutics
  • Supervise and support students in an accredited MPharm setting
  • Engage in university teaching committees and curriculum development
  • Act as personal tutor to assigned students

The Person

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in drug delivery/pharmaceutical sciences, or equivalent clinical/industrial experience
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (or international equivalent)

Core Skills and Competencies

  • Subject knowledge: Specialist expertise in contemporary clinical pharmaceutics or related field
  • Teaching: Experience in undergraduate/postgraduate supervision, adaptable to an MPharm cohort
  • Interpersonal skills: Aboard confidence in both oral/written communication
  • Organisation: Strong ability in planning, administration, and independent initiative

Desirable Experience

  • Deep understanding of accredited MPharm programme design/simulation
  • Experience in academic programme management
  • Demonstrated research record in peer-reviewed journals aligned with career stage
