The role
Northeastern University London invites applications for a Lecturer in Physics for Engineering. The appointee will teach selected first-year undergraduate courses in Physics for Engineering. Candidates from an engineering background are strongly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include preparation of course materials, examinations, and evaluation of student performance in the course. We particularly encourage applications from those with an interest in innovative teaching, learning and assessment; those with experience of supporting a wide variety of students; and those belonging to groups underrepresented in UK higher education. We are open to appointing on a reduced fraction / job-share basis subject to our business needs.
Discipline/ Faculty
The Faculty of Computing, Mathematics, Engineering, and Natural Sciences (CoMENS) is undergoing significant growth at Northeastern University London. It is home to four interdisciplinary undergraduate dual-degree (in UK and US) programmes in the areas of Data Science, Data Science and Politics, Computer Science and Business, and Computer Science and Philosophy; four postgraduate programs in the areas of AI Ethics, Data Science, Computer Science, and Technology Leadership; and five degree apprenticeship programmes in the areas of AI, Data Science, Digital and Technology Solutions, and Biosciences. The faculty plays a major part in Northeastern University’s first-year student mobility program, offering undergraduate courses in Computer and Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Healthcare, striving to inspire and equip entering students to be outstanding scientists. This position will specifically support lead courses in Engineering in London from the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Northeastern University's Boston Campus, where students are taking their courses in London this summer.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant Physics/ Engineering area
- PhD completed, or near completion (all but dissertation), or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline
- AdvanceHE Fellowship status (FHEA), or equivalent teaching qualification, achieved or expected (desirable)

- Demonstrates, through evidence, excellent ability to be adaptable, innovative, and inclusive in teaching.
- Ability to develop excellent educational provision in areas with significant appeal to students with a focus on experiential learning
- Willingness and capacity to undertake continuous professional development in relation to institutionally strategic themes, including but not limited to technology, data, sustainability, and ethics
- Flexibility and capacity to teach across a wide range of courses
- Teaching competency in Physics and/or Engineering to at least Level 6 (i.e., up to final year undergraduate level)
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills, both face-to-face and online
- Excellent IT skills and evidence of supporting the integration of technologies into learning and teaching
- Excellent time-management and organisational skills
