Lecturer in Plumbing

Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we have a position available for a Lecturer in Plumbing on a full-time, permanent contract. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £38,645 to £42,715 per annum, depending on experience.

The Lecturer in Plumbing Role:

As our Lecturer in Plumbing, you will support learner achievement and personal development by delivering effective teaching, monitoring progress, and providing guidance that helps learners develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed for further study, employment, and wider participation.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach and develop skills and theory, ensuring content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives for individual teaching sessions.
  • Provide flexible assessment opportunities and closely plan, monitor, track and record student/apprentice retention, achievement, and success.
  • Develop a range of teaching resources and materials that meet the requirements of the specifications set by the awarding bodies, identifying learning objectives and outcomes for each session.
  • Work collaboratively with employers to ensure apprentices/students meet both workplace expectations and apprenticeship standard requirements.
  • Contribute to curriculum development by supporting new programme design and producing schemes of work and training plans.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Support community and personal enrichment activities, including educational trips.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health and safety across all college activities and manage student concerns within agreed protocols.
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with internal colleagues and external partners to enhance the learner experience.
  • Support wider College activities including internal and external meeting and events.
  • Undertake any such duties and responsibilities which may fall within the overview of such a post and grade.

As our Lecturer in Plumbing, you'll ideally have:

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Minimum Level 3 vocational qualification in Plumbing
  • 3 years minimum industry experience
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based practice in field(s) of expertise
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Communication skills including written and verbal
  • Ability to meet targets within set timescales
  • Ability to work well in teams but also to work independently, with the minimum of supervision
  • A “can-do” attitude focused on achievement and continuous improvement
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to embrace new initiatives.
