The School of Psychology
The School of Psychology at the University of Sunderland is a small but ambitious School, bringing together a collaborative, inclusive and dedicated community of colleagues across the disciplines of Psychology, Public Health and Counselling. We pride ourselves on delivering an outstanding student experience whilst creating an environment in which colleagues are supported to develop, innovate and thrive.
Situated within the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing, the School has a research strategy that reflects the Faculty's commitment to addressing contemporary health and societal challenges. Our research expertise is organised around three overarching themes: male mental health, health and wellbeing, and sex and relationships. We are committed to developing research that has real-world impact, informs policy and practice, and contributes to improving the lives of individuals and communities locally, nationally and internationally.

This is an exciting time to join us. Following several recent internal promotions and continued growth across several areas of the School, we are seeking four new Lecturers in Psychology to join us and contribute to the next stage of our development.

We are seeking colleagues who are passionate about psychology and committed to helping students achieve their full potential. Above all, we are looking for people who recognise the transformative impact of higher education and who are dedicated to delivering an outstanding student experience through high-quality teaching, academic support and mentorship.
Whilst we are not seeking a specific area of specialism, we welcome applications from individuals whose expertise will complement and strengthen our existing team, as well as support the School's strategic ambitions and future growth. We are also interested in hearing from candidates with expertise that could contribute to our forensic psychology provision, and our evolutionary psychology modules.

You will hold a PhD in Psychology, or be nearing completion of a PhD, and have recent experience of teaching psychology in higher education. You will be expected to contribute to teaching across Levels 3–7, undertake assessment and academic support activities, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, and you will play an important role in the quality assurances around the provision.
As a member of our collaborative and ambitious School, you will bring enthusiasm, flexibility and a commitment to excellence, helping us to continue developing innovative programmes and providing an exceptional educational experience for our students.
