Voice & Singing Teacher (Performing Arts) – Creative Industries Department

About the Role
This position sits within the Performing Arts provision of the Creative Industries Curriculum Area, operating from the Graig Campus. The dynamic department delivers a diverse portfolio of courses from Level 1 to Level 4, with specialisation in:
- ** dance and drama programmes** (Level 2 – Level 4)
- vocational pathways into employment, higher education, or industry specialist institutions
- industry linkages, including guest speakers, workshops, and guest artist residencies
- Creative Skills Academy sessions to foster artistic and applied skills
- collaborative partnerships with Music Performance & Production, Creative Media, and external industry stakeholders
The department is expanding alongside Yr Egin initiatives and the relocation of S4C to the Graig Campus, creating new scope for collaboration with regional/national industry and to embed Work-Based Learning (WBL).
Learners are expected to engage with holistic skill development, including:
- Literacy/Numeracy pathways
- Structured pastoral support
Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Assessment:
- Lead Voice teaching and instruction for Level 2, 3, and 4 Performing Arts students
- Deliver singing skills sessions (vocational and academic)
- Able to lead the college choir or Performance Academy (if required)

Learner Guidance & Outcomes:
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to design learner-centred experiences
- Support progression pathways through ** Skills Academy, higher education, vocational colleges**

Engagement & Humanities Partnerships:
- Develop creative project opportunities to attract learners (internal/external marketing)
- Engage directly with local schools to improve recruitment and awareness
- Seek partnerships with external providers (consultants, cultural/arts organisations)

Creative Initiatives & Events:
- Design and promote a diverse programme of workshops, masterclasses, industry visits, and performances
Required Skills & Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- A degree or equivalent qualification relevant to performing arts, music, drama, or voice education
- A teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of employment)
- GCSE English (Grade C/4 or equivalent) and GCSE Maths (Grade C/4 or equivalent)
- Documented professional development in voice pedagogy or related fields
- Prior teaching experience (feasibly in a further education or arts education context)
- Proven Estill Model of Voice training or equivalent experience
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills, with excellent verbal/written communication
- Polished interpersonal and organisational skills, capable of working flexibly in a collaborative team
- Commitment to excellence in Juliet hosting, pastoral mentoring, and meeting tight deadlines
Desirable Criteria
- Evidence of outstanding learner attainment (achievement data or case studies)
- Understanding of learner performance metrics (KPIs) and analysis
- Experience designing innovative teaching modules or extracurricular arts/performing programmes
- A portfolio of pastoral mentoring for young adults
- Proficency in digital literacy tools for curriculum/engagement management
- Valid driving licence with access to a car (to drive a college minibus)
- Welsh language skills (optional but prioritised):
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) – Level 0/1 (desirable)
- Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) – Level 0/1 (desirable)
