Brockenhurst College Lecturer in Sport & Uniformed Public Service (UPS)

Brockenhurst College is looking to recruit a permanent, part-time Lecturer in Sport & Uniformed Public Service (UPS). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £33,367 - £44,365 per annum (pro rata). (Unqualified teachers £26,436 to £33,367 per annum (pro rata)).

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

The Lecturer in Sport & UPS Role:

As our Lecturer in Sport & UPS, you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching & learning.

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Sport & UPS:

  • Teach on courses as agreed with the Director of Faculty, Curriculum Leader, and the Curriculum Coordinators
  • Act as Course Coordinator, if requested.
  • Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records, IV, and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers, and College managers, as appropriate.
  • Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students.
  • Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including:
    • Extension resources/activities for students of higher ability;
    • General resources, including the use of Information Learning Technology;
    • Support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Contribute to the design, delivery, and future planning and development of the curriculum.
  • Contribute to the teaching/learning resource bank including e-resources for the relevant subject/courses.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course.
  • Develop and maintain effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course and represent the College at relevant meetings.
  • Organise and participate in relevant visits, field trips, both in the UK and overseas.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, including Enrolment/Open Events and Parents' Evening, as appropriate.
  • Advise and assist the Curriculum Leader and other team members in all matters related to the delivery of subject specialisms.

As our Lecturer in Sport & UPS, you'll ideally have:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • Appropriate teacher training qualification (or working towards this)
  • Excellent teaching skills
  • Able to manage learners and learning effectively
  • Able to develop effective learning resources
  • Knowledge and understanding of current developments in the relevant curriculum area
  • Supportive and positive approach to teaching and learning
  • Effective team player
  • Good administrative and organisational skills
