Lecturer of IT and Business Admin (Adults)
#Lecturer in Computing, Business Administration, and Customer Service Services – Part-Time (0.6 FTE)
About the Role
The Hampshire Sterling accelerated Development College (HSDC) is seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Lecturer to deliver:
- Level 1 IT User Certificate (Alton, Wednesday)
- Digital & IT Skills Certificate (Level 2) (Alton, Wednesday & Havant, Friday)
- Level 2 Business Administration (NCFE) (Havant, Thursday)
- Level 2 Customer Service (NCFE) (Havant, Thursday)
This is a crucial role focused on supporting adult learners to achieve outstanding outcomes, closer to employment or higher qualifications. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, high-quality teaching, assessment, and academic support while fostering a culture of high expectations and student success.
You will collaborate within a committed teaching team, contributing to:
- Curriculum development
- Quality improvement
- Ongoing success of the Access to HE programme
HSDC encourages candidates to develop qualifications:
- Staff can enrol on the Level 3 Education and Training Award to gain teaching competence (if they have sufficient industry experience).
- Additional support is available for the Level 3 Assessor Award and Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance Award.

Responsibilities
You will ensure excellent student outcomes through:

Teaching & Delivery
- Plan and deliver high-quality teaching, tutorials, and assessments for Computing and IT modules
- Monitor and track student progress using College systems

Academic & Pastoral Support
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and maintain accurate records
- Set, mark, and moderate coursework and internal assessments
- Provide effective academic and pastoral support
- Attend student reviews, interviews, and draft references as needed

Quality Improvement & Compliance
- Participate in student reviews, reference writing, and assessment reviews
- Contribute to curriculum evaluation
- Mentor students towards retention, achievement and progression
- Attend team meetings, sharing best practice

Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records using College systems
- Support retention, achievement, and intern quality assurance tracking

Requirements
Essential
- Qualification in Business, Information Technology, or a closely related subject
- Industry experience or knowledge in Business Administration and Customer Service
- Strong subject expertise in Computer Technology
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching with strong student outcomes
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Experience in supporting adult learners (both academically and pastorally)
- Confident IT skills for teaching enhancement
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity
Desirable (but not compulsory)
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent).
- Assessor qualification (e.g., Level 3 Assessors Award).
(Note: Existing staff with industry experience can qualify via our Level 3 Education and Training Award)
