Salary
- Lecturer B (grade 8): £48,822–£56,535 per annum (depending on skills and experience)
- Associate Professor (grade 9): £58,225–£67,468 per annum
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics as a Lecturer or Associate Professor in Actuarial Science to:
- Plan, teach, and assess Actuarial Science topics at undergraduate level
- Deliver and assess specific modules, including module organisation and developing teaching materials
- Foster course development, innovation, and engagement with students and industry
- Promote enterprise within UEA’s educational frameworks
This role involves teaching as a primary responsibility, with an expectation to contribute actively to curriculum enhancement, enterprise initiatives, and broader university outreach.
Key Responsibilities
- tutor and assess undergraduate modules in Actuarial Science and related subjects
- develop and maintain high-quality teaching resources
- guide students in module/course development, promoting modern pedagogical practices
- manage enterprise and engagement projects, enhancing student employability
- contribute to Higher Education marketing efforts for Actuarial Science programmes
- align with school/university goals for academic innovation

Essential Requirements
For Both Lecturer & Associate Professor Roles:
- PhD (or equivalent professional qualification) in Actuarial Science or a related discipline
- Proven experience in high-quality teaching aligned with the subject area (or significant professional experience in actuarial practice)
- Demonstrated capability in leading course development initiatives
- Evidence of innovative or traditional pedagogical approaches
- Experience in managing enterprise or engagement projects (advantageous)
- Experience in marketing and promoting Higher Education courses *(advantageous)
Additional Requirements for Associate Professor (grade 9):
- Substantive demonstrable achievements in research or industry impact complementary to teaching
- Track record of higher education strategy leadership
- Commitment to continued academic/professional development

Position Details
- Fixed-term: 31 August 2030 (full-time only as advertised)
- Location: Norwich, UEA
- Flexible Working Policy: UEA supports various arrangements (annualised hours, compressed hours, part-time, job share, term-time and hybrid working). Applicants for preferred arrangements must declare in their application.
*The role title offered will be chosen between Lecturer B or Associate Professor based on your qualifications, experience, and evidence of meeting the requirements according to the Person Specification in the Candidate Brochure.
