Position Overview

  • Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia
  • Employment Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Level: Lecturer (Level B): $127,000 – $150,000 | Senior Lecturer (Level C): $155,000 – $178,000
  • Terms: Fixed-term 2 years, convertible to Tenure Track (CTT)
  • Salary Includes: 17% superannuation and annual leave loading

Key Responsibilities

For Both Roles

  • Apply and refine a teaching philosophy that enhances student learning, ensuring excellence in undergraduate/postgraduate courses.
  • Design and implement learning resources, assessments, and innovative teaching methods in alignment with UNSW’s policies.
  • Provide mentorship to students and support academic quality assurance duties as course authority.
  • Engage in scholarly research aligned with behavioural neuroscience, with a focus on:
    • Developing independent or collaborative research projects.
    • Seeking competitive external funding (e.g., institutional, national grants).
    • Supervising Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates.
  • Contribute to faculty/school committees, professional associations, and priority mission areas.
  • Embrace UNSW’s code of conduct, health and safety policies, and하며 diversity initiatives.

Lecturer (Level B) Specific Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a clear teaching philosophy and emerging research excellence within the field.
  • Initiate experimental teaching methods under broader guidance.
  • Introduce educational technologies and diverse assessment strategies.
  • Collaborate on designing curriculum improvements with senior staff.
  • Build a track record of high-quality research output with evidence of insatiable growth.

Senior Lecturer (Level C) Additional Responsibilities

  • Implement an advanced, evidence-based teaching philosophy valuing student engagement.
  • Actively contribute to professional learnings and industry connections.
  • Lead the application process for internal education funding opportunities.
  • Establish workforce-wide reputation and recognition in behavioural neuroscience; aim to attract all-frame funding.
  • Nurture a strong research group and further interdisciplinary connections.

Requirements

For Both Roles

  • A PhD in Psychology or related discipline essential.
  • Proven research impact—publishing, peer review, and seeking National Research Discovery Program (NRDP).
  • Experience in teaching development (e.g., curriculum design, assessment, equity initiatives).
  • Adaptability and teamwork in a multicultural research environment.
  • High-level interpersonal skills to manage diverse stakeholders, including students.
