We are seeking a Lecturer to join our Hospitality team.

In this role you will plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons tailored to a diverse range of learners and courses. You will support students throughout their study programmes, monitoring progress and providing guidance in line with college policies to help them achieve their full potential.

You will be committed to continuous improvement, regularly reflecting on and enhancing your teaching practice, including the effective use of digital and online learning resources. Maintaining high expectations of student performance, behaviour, and commitment is essential, as is ensuring all work meets awarding body standards.

Part Time 22.2 hours per week, spread over 3 days, Permanent, Colchester campus

About the role:

  • To undertake a teaching role across a range of Level 1-3 Professional Chefs curriculum, focusing on delivery of Patisserie appropriate to the needs of all learners and different courses.
  • To prepare, plan and conduct effective teaching appropriate to the needs of individual students, courses, and the curriculum. Monitor and support learners across the whole study programme adhering to college policy.
  • To reflect continuously and improve the quality of teaching and learning within your sessions. Utilising and developing online resources to support student achievement.
  • Maintain high expectations of learner's work, commitment and behaviour, taking action to ensure the highest standards are met at all times.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience of working in catering operations with patisserie being the main area of expertise.
  • High level pastry and dessert skills, plating, finishing and using modern techniques.
  • Understanding of commercial kitchen pace and standards.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education to level 3 or above and/or a professional qualification in relevant subject area or equivalent.
  • Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent.
  • Level 5 Teaching Qualification / completing within 3 years of employment or 3 years of the first available course.
  • Assessor/Verifier Awards.
