Description

We are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography to design and deliver teaching in both classroom and field settings, covering a range of modules within the Geography Subject Area.

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach Key: undergraduate-level geomorphology and earth systems
  • Contribute to modules in:
    • Coastal zone management
    • River management
    • Research methods and design
    • Geographical information systems (GIS)
    • Natural hazards

About the Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead undergraduate teaching in Physical Geography (e.g., classroom and fieldwork delivery).
  • Handle module administration, including assessments, marking, and student feedback.
  • Act as an Academic Advisor for students, including supervising final-year Dissertation projects.
  • Engage in recruitment events and outreach to promote the Geography programme.
  • Conduct research as part of the Centre for Research on Science and Society, with ongoing involvement in:
    • Climate, Hazards & Environmental Change
    • Ecology, Biodiversity & Conservation
    • Identities & Inequalities research clusters

About You

We are looking for applicants with: ✅ Recent, successful academic experience in Physical Geography teaching. ✅ A commitment to delivering an excellent student learning experience. ✅ Experience designing modules and innovative assessments (ideally module leadership). ✅ Fieldtrip experience (preferably international), if applicable for programme delivery.


Additional Information

  • Starting salary: £44,746 (with potential progression to £56,536).
  • Structure: Salary includes annual performance-based progression, with an optional inflationary increase.
  • Interview date: Week commencing 27 July 2026.
