Description

We are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography to design and deliver teaching content in the classroom and in the field, covering modules across the Geography Subject area.

The ideal candidate will contribute to undergraduate teaching in:

  • Geomorphology
  • Earth systems
  • Coastal zone management
  • River management
  • Research methods and design
  • Geographical information systems (GIS)
  • Natural hazards

About the Role

Teaching & Academic Support

  • Lead and contribute to undergraduate modules in Physical Geography, including both in-class and fieldwork components
  • Handle module administration, including:
    • Assessment
    • Marking
    • Student feedback
  • Act as an Academic Advisor to undergraduate students
  • Supervise final-year Dissertation projects

  • Engage in promoting and marketing the Geography programme via:
    • Recruitment events
    • Outreach activities
  • Conduct research activities as a member of the Centre for Research on Science and Society
  • Participate in three interdisciplinary research clusters:
    • Climate, Hazards and Environmental Change
    • Ecology, Biodiversity and Conservation
    • Identities and Inequalities

About You

Key Requirements

  • Recent, successful university teaching experience in core areas of Physical Geography
  • Ability to deliver excellent student learning experiences
  • Preference for those with experience in:
    • Leading modules
    • Designing innovative assessments
    • Organising or leading international fieldtrips

Additional Information

  • Salary Details: The range reflects potential pay progression plus annual inflation adjustments, with appointments typically starting at the lower end unless exceptional circumstances apply.
