This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong sports industry background who is passionate about preparing the next generation of sports business professionals. Whether your experience has been gained through professional sport, governing bodies, sports marketing, commercial partnerships, event management, sports development, consultancy, or other areas of the sports industry, you will bring current industry knowledge and practice into the classroom.
You will contribute to the design, delivery and continuous enhancement of our Sports Business Management curriculum, ensuring students benefit from an engaging, applied and research-informed learning experience that reflects the rapidly evolving sports industry.
The successful candidate will inspire students through innovative teaching, authentic assessment and real-world learning experiences while contributing to the continued growth and reputation of our Sports Business Management provision. Successful candidates will also be expected to teach across different courses across all levels.
We are looking for someone who combines academic ability with substantial professional insight into the sports industry.

You will be passionate about developing future sports business leaders and able to inspire students through your enthusiasm, industry expertise and commitment to excellent teaching.
We particularly welcome applications from experienced sports industry professionals who are looking to transition into Higher Education. If you have built your career within professional sport, governing bodies, sports marketing, commercial partnerships, event management, sponsorship, sports development, consultancy or related sectors, and are keen to share your expertise with the next generation of sports business professionals, we would be delighted to hear from you. Previous Higher Education teaching experience is advantageous but not essential, as we provide comprehensive support and academic development for colleagues joining us from industry.
As a Member Of Our Academic Team, You Will
- Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Sports Business Management and other management related programmes.
- Design engaging, practice-based learning experiences that connect academic theory with contemporary issues in the sports industry.
- Develop and review modules and assessments to ensure they remain relevant, innovative and aligned with industry needs.
- Draw upon your professional sports experience to enhance student learning through live projects, case studies, guest speakers and industry partnerships.
- Provide excellent academic and pastoral support through personal tutoring and student mentoring.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
- Support student employability by developing placement opportunities and strengthening links with sports organisations and employers.
- Contribute to student recruitment, outreach and course development activities.
- Engage in research, scholarly activity and knowledge exchange appropriate to your career stage.
- Play an active role in the continued development and growth of Sports Business Management within the Department.
Applicants Should Have
- A Master's degree in Sports Management, Sports Business, Sport Marketing, Sport Development, Business Management or a closely related discipline.
- Significant professional experience within the sports industry, such as professional sport, governing bodies, sports marketing, commercial management, sponsorship, events, consultancy, sports development or related sectors.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for developing the next generation of sports business professionals.
- The ability to translate professional practice into engaging, applied and inclusive learning experiences.
- A commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience.
Successful candidates joining from industry will be fully supported in developing their academic practice, including the opportunity to undertake our highly regarded Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, work towards Fellowship of Advance HE, and develop their teaching, scholarship and research profile.

Previous teaching, training or professional development experience is desirable, although applications are welcomed from experienced sports industry professionals looking to transition into higher education.
Successful candidates who are new to Higher Education will be fully supported to develop their academic career, including the opportunity to undertake our highly regarded Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.
Desirable Requirements
- A PhD (completed or near completion) in a relevant discipline.
- Fellowship of Advance HE or a recognised teaching qualification in Higher Education.
- An active research profile or evidence of scholarly or professional engagement.
- Established networks within the sports industry that can enhance student learning and employability.
- Experience of curriculum development and working collaboratively with industry partners.
