Role: Legal Accounts Assistant
Salary: Dependant on experience
Office base: Wigan, WN3 5BA
35 hours per week

The Role
We are seeking an Legal Accounts Assistant to support the accounts assessment aspect of regulatory interventions. You’ll assist in the accounts aspect following the closure of law firms. This will involve the retrieval and analysis of financial documentation, and helping to determine the rightful ownership of client funds.
What Makes This Role Great?
Working with us in the Interventions team will give you a unique insight into legal finance, regulatory compliance, and client care. You’ll gain hands-on experience in:
- Assisting with interventions across the UK (as and when required)
- Supporting the review and reconciliation of financial records
- Preparing reconciled lists of accounts relating to Statutory Trust funds
- Assisting with the analysis of client ledgers to help identify beneficial entitlement
- Locating and gathering supporting evidence from accounting records and client files
- Liaising with clients and third parties to verify transaction details
- Supporting the claims process and assisting with reports for regulatory bodies
- Assisting with monthly billing processes and general administrative tasks

About You

We’re looking for someone who can:
- Demonstrate an interest in legal finance

- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, clients, and external contacts
- Work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
- Handle sensitive financial and client information with discretion and confidentiality
- Maintain excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Be confident working with financial data and accounting systems
- Show a willingness to learn and follow regulatory requirements, including the Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Have a proactive and flexible approach to supporting the wider Legal Accounts team
Essential:
- Relevant work experience in legal accounts or solicitors firm
- Experience of dealing with customers/clients
- Experience of working with financial accounts
- Experience of dealing with high volumes of enquiries
- Good standard of IT skills (including Microsoft Word & Excel)
- Adaptable and methodical with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Client care/customer service skills
- Ability to read financial ledgers

- Experience as a Legal Cashier
- Experience of using various case management systems/accounts software
- Knowledge and understanding of interventions
- Solicitors Accounts Rules
