Legal and Compliance Director

Legal and Compliance Director – GetGround

We're looking for a Legal and Compliance Director to own and build our legal, regulatory, and compliance function as GetGround scales its regulated financial services and property investment platform. This is a role for a highly commercial lawyer—someone who has operated at a senior level, built or led a legal and compliance function, and is ready to help shape and drive a transformative business on the frontier of fintech, proptech, and wealthtech.

You’ll shape how a fast-growing business—operating at the intersection of technology and real estate finance—manages risk, meets regulatory obligations, and earns the trust of customers, regulators, and partners as we expand beyond our current markets.

This reporting directly to the COO.

The Opportunity

GetGround has grown significantly since we last recruited for this function. We now:

  • Manage £2Bn+ in assets on platform
  • Serve 30,000+ users across 70 countries
  • Offer a portfolio of regulated products spanning:
    • Mortgages
    • Property management
    • Investment tools

Our ambition is to grow further, with plans to enter new geographies. The legal and regulatory function must be ready to support this scaling.

You won’t just be overseeing compliance operations—you’ll shape the whole function. This means:

  • Defining and effecting strategic direction
  • Building scalable frameworks that can adapt to new markets
  • Being the go-to person for high-stake decisions

Key Priorities:

  • Champion AI and legal technology adoption to streamline workflows, including:
    • Contract review
    • Regulatory research
    • Compliance monitoring
  • Drive innovation and efficiency within the legal and compliance teams
  • Be the business midfielder between legal risk and commercially driven ambition

What You’ll Be Doing

Legal Leadership

  • Own all legal aspects across:
    • Corporate law
    • Commercial agreements
    • Intellectual property (IP)
    • Employment law
    • Data protection and privacy
    • Product-related legalities
    • Fundraising and capital-raising processes
  • Drive geographic expansion, aligning legal and regulatory strategies for new markets
  • Lead and negotiate high-value commercial partnerships, including:
    • Customer contracts
    • Supplier agreements
  • Serve as the legally informed advisor to:
    • The CEO
    • Leadership team (across Product, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing)
    • During the launch of new products
    • When entering new jurisdictions
  • Manage relationships with external counsel with rigorous, commercially-minded oversight
  • Develop scalable legal infrastructure through:
    • Standardized templates
    • Key processes
    • Decision playbooks
    • Team training and upskilling

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
