Legal Assistant

Legal Assistant/Secretary

Contract: Full time; Permanent Location: Winnersh / Hybrid (on-site 3 days during probation and 2 days thereafter)

We are now seeking Legal Assistants to join our growing Family Law team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to support clients and make a meaningful difference to people from all walks of life.


The Role

The Legal Assistants support our Family Law team in progressing client matters and legal aid applications. Responsibilities include:

  • Answering incoming client calls and enquiries in a professional and confidential manner
  • Assisting clients with Legal Aid applications and conducting eligibility assessments in line with Legal Aid Agency requirements
  • Drafting basic legal documents and correspondence under supervision
  • Opening and maintaining client files on the case management system and preparing documentation for court
  • Ensuring files and records are maintained in accordance with firm procedures
  • Liaising with clients, courts, and external agencies where required
  • Providing administrative support to solicitors and fee earners
  • Undertaking general administrative duties related to the role

Experience (Essential)

  • Previous experience working in a legal environment, in a similar role
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures
  • Proficient in LEAP or other case management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work on their own initiative and as part of a team player
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)

  • Working Hours: 09:00 AM–05:30 PM, Monday–Friday
  • Hybrid Working: Expected to be in the office minimum 3 days per week
