About The Role
With our continued growth, we are recruiting for a Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our Residential Conveyancing department.
This team deals with mostly local sales, purchases and transfers on behalf of existing and new clients (receiving recommendations from existing clients and other departments within the firm). This position will be based in our Cardiff office, where you will provide in-depth business support to our busy conveyancing team.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the team's work by:
- Drafting and formatting of letters, documents, and forms such as sale contracts and exchange and completion letters.
- Conduct searches (Local Authority, Land Registry, Insolvency, Compliance Regulation).
- Being a first point of contact for any administrative and business support requirements for fee earners, anticipating the teams needs where possible.
- Supporting the file opening process for the team, including compliance checks.
- Assisting with the preparation of all financial transactions as required, including new matter quotes.
- Filtering client and agent queries, at times being the first point of contact for clients.
Joining our Residential Conveyancing team gives you access to a career pathway as a Licensed Conveyancer via the CLC qualification. Individuals can enrol on the Level 4 CLC apprenticeship and if successful progress onto the Level 6 CLC apprenticeship whilst in a fee-earning conveyancing role. Accessing these qualifications requires a minimum of 12 months service and a career development plan with a sponsoring Partner.
About You
As a Legal Assistant you will have:
- Sound knowledge of IT systems including full Microsoft Office suite and Teams.
- Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of your work, with confident typing abilities.
- Strong communication and organisation skills.
- Experience in a client facing environment would be advantageous.
- Former experience within a legal/professional services environment would be desirable, and previous experience within a conveyancing department would be highly desirable.
- Experience in case management systems is preferable but not essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
