Guest Walker is a well-established solicitors’ firm based in the heart of York.
We are looking for a full-time Legal Assistant to join our busy Commercial Property team.
The team is in a period of development as we adopt new technologies. Whilst it may start as a more traditional role including audio-typing and task dictation, a key aim of the role is to help the team transition into a new digital future and shape change across the department.
The post is office-based and full-time.
You will
- Develop expertise, experience, and skills with appropriate guidance from our experienced solicitors;
- Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills and the initiative to work independently but also as part of a team;
- Communicate and engage at all levels both internally and externally;
- Be flexible, adaptable, and have a positive attitude to work;
- Identify priorities within a complex and demanding workload and sustain consistent quality performance when under pressure;
- Analyse and apply problem-solving skills;
- Be friendly, approachable, and willing to help share development with and of colleagues;
- Be confident in your own abilities and self-motivated and have a genuine commitment to the delivery of outstanding client service.

Key qualifications and skills:
- Genuine interest in working in Commercial Property, including new developments;
- Some real estate/land law knowledge acquired whilst doing a law degree or post-graduate degree would be an advantage;
- Some work experience in a law firm;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Good IT knowledge and a willingness to adopt and implement new technologies.
