Legal Assistant

Join Our Housing and Litigation Legal Services Team 12-month Fixed-Term contract

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Legal Assistant to join our busy and highly regarded Housing & Litigation Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious legal professional looking to develop their experience within a local government legal practice and contribute to the delivery of high-quality legal services to the Council.

Working closely with experienced lawyers and clients across the Council, you will play a key role in supporting a varied caseload covering housing and litigation matters, helping to protect the Council’s interests while delivering positive outcomes for residents and communities.

About the Role

As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for undertaking a range of legal and administrative work within the Housing & Litigation Team. You will assist lawyers in progressing matters efficiently and effectively, liaising with clients and external parties, preparing legal documentation, and ensuring compliance with court and procedural deadlines.

The work is varied and challenging and will include matters relating to:

  • Housing litigation
  • Housing disrepair claims
  • Rent possession and housing management cases
  • Anti-social behaviour matters
  • Service charge disputes and recovery
  • Debt recovery proceedings
  • Prosecutions and regulatory enforcement matters
  • General civil litigation matters

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a supportive local authority legal environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
