Background

Cordus Law is a specialist legal practice, assisting veterans and active-duty service members secure compensation for injuries suffered during service. We are seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join our growing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing client and office account transactions, including BACS, Faster Payments, CHAPS, cheques and other authorised payment methods
  • Managing day-to-day legal accounts, including posting bills, banking receipts and maintaining accurate client and office ledgers
  • Completing month-end and year-end accounting procedures, including bank reconciliations where required
  • Operating and maintaining online banking systems, ensuring all internal and external bank transfers are processed accurately and securely
  • Ensuring full compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules and supporting compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations alongside the Finance Manager
  • Liaising with accountants, software providers and internal departments to support the effective operation of the firm's finance function
  • Responding to accounts enquiries and undertaking general legal accounts administration, including purchase ledger management, ledger write-offs and archiving
  • Maintaining high professional standards, confidentiality and compliance with company and regulatory (SRA) policies and procedures

Person Specification

  • Previous experience working as a Legal Cashier or within a legal accounts environment
  • Good understanding of the SRA Accounts Rules and legal accounting procedures
  • Experience using legal case management and accounting systems, ideally Proclaim
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks, work independently and meet deadlines
  • IT literate with experience using Microsoft Office and online banking systems
  • Flexible, as working outside normal office hours may occasionally be required
