Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment is pleased to partner again with one of our valued clients, a well-established professional services organisation with a strong UK presence, in the search for a Legal Cashier. The position is based at their impressive Edinburgh headquarters, offering panoramic views across the city, where you’ll become part of a skilled, collaborative, and high-performing team.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Head Cashier, the Legal Cashier will play an integral role in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the Cashroom. This is a varied position involving financial processing, reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and maintaining electronic payment methods across multiple banking platforms
  • Reviewing payments to ensure full compliance with AML regulations before processing
  • Posting a range of financial transactions accurately to the firm’s finance system
  • Managing client accounts, including opening, closing, and handling daily transactions
  • Reviewing, raising, and processing cheque payments
  • Allocating incoming cash and receipts
  • Completing daily bank reconciliations, including identifying and resolving unallocated funds
  • Providing ad hoc support during the firm’s annual audit process

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Previous experience within a Cashroom or similar finance function
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced or high-volume environment
  • A good understanding of HMRC, VAT, and AML requirements (advantageous)
  • SOLAS accreditation (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using legal or finance software systems
  • A proactive approach with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
