Legal Cashier

The Role
The Legal Cashier will be responsible for the handling of routine cash transactions for the firm, ensuring that the SRA Accounts Rules are adhered to at all times. The role will include providing a legal cashiering service with a focus on Client a/c funds, while consistently maintaining a reliable and quality service.
Responsibilities
Client Account (Day to day duties):
• Ensuring all Client a/c transactions are dealt with in accordance with the SRA Accounts Rules.• Processing and posting of Client a/c CHAPS/SWIFT/Faster receipts and payments from various banking platforms (including RBS, BOS, HSBC & Barclays) in a timely manner in line with firm's policies and authority limits.• Client a/c banking and processing. • Checking Client a/c regularly to ensure Client a/c balances do not become residual. • Full running and checking of weekly reports to assist with the general housekeeping of matters and any potential COFA breaches reported to the Legal Cashiers Manager when they occur.• Weekly Client Residual balance report, liaising with Fee Earning departments to return funds appropriately and promptly. • Providing cover for Bank Reconciliation role. • Monitoring the Cashiers Mailbox and responding to requests/queries in a timely manner.
Required experience, skills & attributes
Technical skills • Working knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules. • Previous experience of working within a cashiering environment. • Legal Sector Client account experience.• Possesses the confidence to deal effectively with Partners, and to discuss their files.• Able to prioritise and handle multiple tasks, particularly in demanding situations and when working to tight deadlines. • Methodical approach to work with a keen focus on accuracy.• Skilled in using MS Office, including Word and Excel.• Knowledge of the 3e accounts. • Knowledge of banking systems ideally RBS Bankline, HSBC.net and Barclays.net. Personal attributes • Able to interact positively at all levels within the firm and a good team player.• Flexible and prepared to work additional hours at month, quarter and year ends. • Proficient written and verbal communication skills. • Able to make decisions and demonstrate professionalism in challenging situations.• Driven and motivated approach to work; exhibits professionalism in attitude, outlook, and appearance.• Able to demonstrate excellent customer facing skills. • Training will be given where required.
