Legal Cashier

A leading law firm is seeking a Legal Cashier to join its friendly and close-knit finance team based in Norwich, Norfolk. The role is office-based, with flexibility offered where appropriate.

Below covers everything you need to know about what this opportunity entails, as well as what is expected from applicants.

You will play a key role in supporting the firm’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs) and maintaining accurate client and office account records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily reconciliation of client and office bank accounts
  • Processing incoming monies via online banking and allocating funds accurately
  • Managing outgoing payments via electronic transfer or cheque in line with firm policies and SARs
  • Checking and processing bills
  • Monitoring client balances and liaising with fee earners to clear residual balances post-completion
  • Transferring costs and disbursements as required
  • Taking client card payments over the phone
  • Providing financial support and responding to queries from fee earners and support staff
  • Logging incoming cheques and ensuring correct posting procedures
  • Reporting breaches or discrepancies to senior accounts management
  • Supporting general finance administration and ad hoc duties as required
