Legal Counsel (Commercial Lawyer)
Role Overview
We are seeking a qualified Commercial Lawyer with demonstrable post-qualification experience to join our team. Ideally, you will have experience working in-house or on secondment and be capable of rapidly integrating into a small legal team supporting a rapidly expanding civil nuclear business, with responsibilities across development, engineering, and design activities for SMR technology.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Legal, you will:

Draft and prepare a broad range of Supply Chain agreements, including:
- Design and engineering services contracts
- Partner supply arrangements
- Licensing and confidentiality agreements
- Supporting the Business’s industrialisation and supply chain strategies

Provide legal counsel and guidance to internal stakeholders on:
- Contractual matters
- Risk identification and mitigation
- Compliance with internal governance frameworks, laws, and regulations

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (supply chain, procurement, commercial, finance, and engineering/programme/operations) to:
- Align contractual terms with business objectives
- Draft and negotiate favourable terms
- Resolve contract-related disputes efficiently and timely

Draft legal documents, including:
- Template contracts, NDAs, and data addendums
- Closing and signing document preparation
- Policies, procedures, and correspondence

Review contracts, documenting key clauses and summarising legal risks, while preparing:
- Legal research, presentations (PowerPoint), minutes, spreadsheets, and reports
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Qualified Lawyer with the right to work and eligibility to practice in the UK
- Strong academic credentials and post-qualification experience
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills across commercial agreements
- Strong commercial understanding, a pragmatic approach, and outstanding interpersonal skills
Salary Range
£60,000 – £78,750 DOE
